Orange Walk is affectionately known as “Sugar City” or “Sugah City” because of its unmistakable aroma of sugar cane often filling the air and it being the largest Sugar cane producing District. Orange Walk is also known as the fourth largest town in Belize. It is located on the left bank of the Belize New River and home to the biggest Maya Temple of the pre-classic period, the “Lamanai” Mayan Site.
Lamanai – “Submerged Crocodile” is the second in size only to Caracol in the Cayo District. In addition to visiting the magnificent Lamanai Site, you can be immersed in the Mennonite Culture of Belize and also experience Zip lining, Jungle Trolley, Bamboo Rafting or hike through broadleaf forest for bird watching.
Be sure to visit this part of the country as you will never be short of an adventure!
